UNODC’S DOHA EVALUATION IN THE NEWS

In 2020, DeftEdge conducted a very interested independent evaluation of an award-winning programme at UNODC. Education for Justine, one of the pillars of the Doha Programme recently (unsurprisingly) won UN Secretary-General’s 2020 Innovation Award.

Since this has been discussed elsewhere in these chronicles, this post only gives a more recent update. DE was recently invited to share the experience in conducting evaluations at the height of covid pandemic at a side event at the 30th session of the The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

This briefing to the policymakers at the highest level equipped them with the information necessary to achieve results and expectations outlined in the Doha declaration on “Integrating Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice into the Wider United Nations Agenda to Address Social and Economic Challenges and to Promote the Rule of Law at the National and International Levels, and Public Participation.”
