DeftEdge is excited to announce it has entered into a multi-year agreement with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to provide Evaluation capacity-building services for the Fund’s Accredited Entities (AEs).

The Green Climate Fund: A Key Player in Climate Action

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the world’s largest climate fund, established as part of the Paris Agreement to support developing countries in reducing their greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change. GCF aims to catalyze climate action by investing in four key areas – built environment, energy & industry, human security, livelihoods and wellbeing, and land use – while employing strategies to transform planning, foster innovation, de-risk investments, and mainstream climate considerations into decision-making.

Partnering for Green Climate

Enhancing Evaluation for Greater Impact

To win this fight against climate change, we need to learn fast and adapt even faster, and effective monitoring and evaluation (M&E) are essential for maximizing the impact of GCF-funded projects. These processes serve dual purposes:

  1. Ensuring accountability
  2. Facilitating continuous learning and improvement

Independent evaluations provide objective assessments of project results, effectiveness, and efficiency. They also play a vital role in informing decision-making and disseminating valuable lessons learned.

DeftEdge’s Role in Evaluation Capacity Building

Our team at DeftEdge will work closely with the GCF’s Independent Evaluation Unit to enhance the M&E capabilities of their Accredited Entities. Our approach includes:

  • Conducting thorough training needs assessments
  • Developing and refining training packages
  • Delivering both online and in-person training sessions
  • Creating self-paced e-learning programs

By leveraging our extensive experience in evaluation and Results-Based Management training, we aim to equip AEs with the skills and knowledge needed to implement high-quality evaluations and effectively utilize evaluative evidence.

We’re honored to contribute our expertise to this important initiative. As climate change continues to pose significant challenges globally, robust evaluation practices will be crucial in ensuring the effectiveness of climate action projects. We look forward to supporting the GCF and its partners in this critical work
